Mushrooms for Christmas

I know, funny title right?  Since my husband doesn't usually read my blog I think I'm safe sharing this here.

My husband has been learning so much about growing.
When I first started Mary's Heirloom Seeds almost 4 years ago,
he probably figured it was just a hobby.  Something to keep me busy.  And boy has it kept me busy!!!  Growing heirloom veggies in my organic garden, educating people about growing and managing almost every aspect of Mary's Heirloom Seeds has become a FULL time job.

What does any of this have to do with mushrooms?  Well for starters, my hubby isn't really a dig in the dirt and plant stuff kinda guy.  He'll build stuff and haul dirt when I need him to but that's about it.  He's LOVES sciencey stuff.
Yes, I just said "Sciencey."

I'm thinking about getting him a Mushroom Growing Kit for Christmas.  I think it's something he'd find interesting and doesn't require going out in the yard.

The first kit I'm looking at is very simple and gets rave reviews.

This kit also gets good reviews and should offer a bigger harvest!

Oyster Mushroom Growing Kit - Premium Edition

Here's a much larger Kit

Seasonal White Button Mushroom Growing Kit

How BEAUTIFUL are these Mushrooms?  They're BLUE!

Blue Oyster Mushroom Growing Plugs ~ Grow your own mushrooms for years!

Another BEAUTIFUL variety of Fungi!

The Reishi Mushroom Garden Patch- Indoor Mushroom Growing Kit - Grow Edible Mushrooms & Fungi. Easy & Fun Mush Room Grow Kits

I have read that Mushrooms can be grown in these kits in as few as 10-14 days.

I'm also considering BOOKS about growing Mushrooms.  The cool thing about growing your own is having FRESH food available.  Mushrooms are grown INDOORS so even for those of you living in cool or cold climates, you can still have fresh mushrooms.
