I have had a fantastic time in the garden this year. We adopted the sweetest kitten, baby Lucy. We got married just before Christmas. I considered life on a farm in Montana...But then it got down to the low 50s here in Florida and I realized that I kinda like warm weather!
I even completed a Cookbook!
My first photo of 2013: Royalty Purple Podded Beans. I grew these over the last few weeks and they'll be ready to eat next week! They are "New Arrivals" at Mary's Heirloom Seeds!
On a more serious note, I realized that there are good guys and bad guys out there. I firmly believe that we (humans) should be more responsible for ourselves and our actions. It is up to us to defend not only ourselves but our rights as American Citizens. It is our DUTY to defend and exercise our rights!
From Patriot Post:
There are two foundational tenets of Essential Liberty that all American Patriots must understand and embrace in order to sustain Liberty and extend it to the next generation.
First, it is "self-evident" that Liberty is an "unalienable right," innately assured as "endowed by our Creator." In other words, it is not awarded by men or government; it is the birthright of all people.
Second, as history records countless examples of men using the power of government to arbitrarily revoke Liberty and invoke tyranny, our Founders understood that, in the words of John Adams, "liberty must at all hazards be supported." Adams continued, "We have a right to it, derived from our Maker. But if we had not, our fathers have earned and bought it for us, at the expense of their ease, their estates, their pleasure, and their blood."
Thus, all American Patriots today, those imbued with the spirit of Liberty that has motivated Patriots since 1776, must be prepared to support and defend both individual and corporate Liberty, to secure the Rule of Law over the rule of men.
Of the ability to defend Liberty, James Madison wrote, "The ultimate authority ... resides in the people alone. ... The advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation ... forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition." (Federalist No. 46)
I am aware that the above snipet from a very moving article may turn people away from my blog. I do no intend to make this a regular occurance on this blog. I do however feel that it is necessary to share important information at a very crucial time in our country.
I'd also like to share a quick statistic with you. Because I work in the "medical" industry I am aware of the good/bad/ugly side of medicine.
Gun-related murders in 2011= 11,078 (lowest rate since 1981)
Death by Medicine = 783,936 per year
Of those deaths, 98,000 are due to medical errors!!! That's crazy!
In 2010, 211 children were killed in drunk driving crashes. Out of those 211 deaths, 131 (62 percent) were riding with the drunk driver. MADD
All I ask is that we educate ourselves with the FACTS in 2013 and beyond. Don't become swayed by the fast-talking politicians or newscaster with their own agendas. HISTORY can tell us a lot about why we have the Bill of Rights in the Constitution. The original 10 Amendments, The Bill of Rights, were established for very good reasons. Without them, America is nothing! Without them there is no Freedom!
Happy New Year!
