"Colony Collapse Disorder, also known as Fall-Dwindle Disease, is of great concern to beekeepers worldwide. Beekeepers are reporting the sudden loss of adult bees in their colonies – few, if any, adult bees are found in or near the dead colonies. Queen and baby (brood) bees remain in the colonies, but the adults are not returning to provide food, so the colonies collapse or die. Over 22 US states reported significant colony losses in the fall of 2006. Similar reports are coming from Europe as well. Researchers are considering viruses, bacteria, fungi, weather, food loss, and other stresses as possible causes."

ReplyDeleteI have a late start to the garden due to family matters. I recently transplanted heritage tomatoes I started by seed and need to transplant my pepper plants. We have already been eating asparagus and rhubarb and hopefully this week I will plant the rest of our seeds. We did get our field corn planted a few weeks ago.

ReplyDeleteYes, I have a garden going - rabbits devoured my lettuce, spinach, and turnip & radish tops. My snap peas, tomatoes, green beans, & zucc survived. Hopefully the tiny lettuce shoots left behind will grow.

ReplyDeleteYes, I have a garden. I have butternut squash, pumpkins, watermelon, cantaloupe, onions, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, carrots, green beans, potatoes, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, basil, zucchini and yellow squash.
ReplyDeleteYes, I have a garden here in Allentown, PA. I am growing tomatoes - Roma & cherry. Yellow squash, zucchini, sunflowers & brussel sprouts. I only have a small garden but it works for my handicapped daughter & myself.
